About

So, if you know me then you probably know how much I enjoy the old classic video games, we are talking the original NES and back. There are a few SNES and Sega games that are ok, but as far as I am concerned nothing after those systems is worth a damn. I am also a pretty big fan of games from before the NES, Qix, Galaga, Mappy, and Tapper to name a few. Naturally being a fan of these games I came to discover MAME. MAME is an arcade machine emulator that allows you to play thousands of arcade games right on your home pc. I think I discovered it around release .32 or so. The first game I played was the Simpsons (this being a favorite from my childhood). Well after the amazement of playing these games at home wore off and the hand cramps from using the keyboard set in I discovered how crappy this setup was.once I went off to college I found that people were actually putting computers into arcade machines and playing MAME that way. Great, that is for me! I promptly purchased two sets of buttons and joysticks. There they sat for some time until I decided to build a basic control panel. Fast forward 7 years. I now own. A machine that I intend to MAME. Yes, it is a Neo Geo, no I won’t be replacing the Neo Geo… I have every intention on restoring this back at some point once I get another machine.I am even leaving the control panel as is, just four buttons. No good games used more than four anyways…
